Using your home equity for a renovation, your next property or your financial plans. What are the options?

Can I use my equity?

Has the value of your home increased? If so, you may have some equity. In some cases, you can use this for new plans.

What can you use your equity for?

  • a renovation or sustainability upgrade;
  • the purchase of another property;
  • helping your children buy a home;
  • extra financial flexibility, now or in the future.

Can I simply withdraw my equity?

Equity is not freely available. How much you can use and in what way depends on your home, your mortgage and your financial situation.

Withdrawing equity can also have consequences for your mortgage and monthly payments. It is therefore important to consider not only what is possible, but also what the decision means both now and in the future.

Would you like to use your equity?

Curious about how you can use your home’s equity to fund your plans? We’ll look at what’s possible in your situation and work out what the various options mean for you.

FAQ on withdrawing equity

Will my monthly costs go up?

That’s possible. And it’s precisely the question that’s often taken too lightly. Tapping into your home equity can provide financial breathing space, but it can also affect, for example, your mortgage and monthly payments. We therefore work out in advance what tapping into your home equity will mean for your monthly payments, both now and in the future.

Can I use my home equity to help my children?

That’s possible, but the way you go about it makes a difference. Consider, for example, making a gift or a loan. There may be financial and tax implications involved. It is therefore wise to first consider which option suits both your situation and theirs.

Can I use my home equity without selling my house?

This is possible in certain situations. For example, by increasing the amount of your existing mortgage or taking out a supplementary mortgage. Whether this is possible and advisable depends, amongst other things, on the value of your home, your current mortgage and your financial situation.

Book a free consultation. Just a good chat about your situation.

How much does an initial consultation cost?

The first consultation is, of course, free of charge. We’ll discuss your situation, plans and any questions you may have, and see how we can help you. We’ll then explain what the next steps are, and any costs that may be involved. That way, you’ll know exactly where you stand from the outset.

Are you really independent?

Yes. We are not tied to any one bank or insurer, and we do not work on commission. We are familiar with all the providers, their costs and their terms and conditions. We’ll look at which provider best suits your situation.

What do I need to prepare?

Think about what you’d like to discuss and what plans or questions you have. A rough overview of your income, fixed expenses and any mortgage will help us get started, but it isn’t essential for the first meeting.

Would you like specific advice during the first meeting? If so, it would be helpful if you could bring your payslip, a statement of your savings, a list of your loans, etc., or send them to us in advance.
If you’d like, we can set up your account on the client portal in advance so you can upload documents. Please let us know when you book your appointment, and we’ll create an account for you.

Can I come here as an expat too?

Yes. Even if you’re an expat, we can help you with your mortgage and other financial queries. We’ll look at how your income and circumstances factor in and which options are best suited to your situation. We have extensive experience in this area. The consultation can be in Dutch, English or Polish.

Do I need to pop into the office?
