Renovation mortgage
Finance a renovation with a building savings account, without letting your monthly payments get out of hand.
How can I finance my home improvement project?
Whether it’s an extension, a new kitchen or a thorough refurbishment, a renovation requires money – and financing that suits both your plans and your budget. Sometimes this can be covered by your mortgage, whilst at other times a different option makes more sense.
What should you bear in mind when financing a renovation?
- The current and expected value of your home
- What is it worth to you?
- Do you expect to live here for a long time to come?
- How to manage a building fund and pay bills during the renovation
Planning a renovation?
Of course, there’s much more to consider. Are you already dreaming of your renovation? We’d be happy to explore the financing options with you. That way, you’ll know what you can afford before you accept quotes and finalise your plans. And who knows – there might be far more possibilities than you realise! Book an appointment.
FAQ on renovation mortgage
What is a building savings account and how does it work?
A building fund is a separate account linked to your mortgage where (part of) the money for your renovation is set aside. You pay for the renovation costs from this fund, for example by submitting invoices from the builder or supplier.
There are conditions governing which costs you may pay from the renovation account and how long the account remains available. These vary depending on the lender.
That extension, a new kitchen, a new bathroom and making the house more sustainable: is it all possible?
Who knows! But before your wish list gets any longer, it’s worth knowing what total budget you can comfortably stick to. We’ll work out how much you’ve got to spend and what different budgets mean for your monthly outgoings. Then you can decide for yourself where you’d rather spend your money.
Can I use my home equity to carry out renovations?
Yes, if there is sufficient equity and your financial situation allows it, you may be able to use some of it for the renovation. However, this usually means that your mortgage and monthly repayments will increase.
Be confident in your choice.

Book a free consultation. Just a good chat about your situation.
How much does an initial consultation cost?
The first consultation is, of course, free of charge. We’ll discuss your situation, plans and any questions you may have, and see how we can help you. We’ll then explain what the next steps are, and any costs that may be involved. That way, you’ll know exactly where you stand from the outset.
Are you really independent?
Yes. We are not tied to any one bank or insurer, and we do not work on commission. We are familiar with all the providers, their costs and their terms and conditions. We’ll look at which provider best suits your situation.
What do I need to prepare?
Think about what you’d like to discuss and what plans or questions you have. A rough overview of your income, fixed expenses and any mortgage will help us get started, but it isn’t essential for the first meeting.
Would you like specific advice during the first meeting? If so, it would be helpful if you could bring your payslip, a statement of your savings, a list of your loans, etc., or send them to us in advance.
If you’d like, we can set up your account on the client portal in advance so you can upload documents. Please let us know when you book your appointment, and we’ll create an account for you.
Can I come here as an expat too?
Yes. Even if you’re an expat, we can help you with your mortgage and other financial queries. We’ll look at how your income and circumstances factor in and which options are best suited to your situation. We have extensive experience in this area. The consultation can be in Dutch, English or Polish.
Do I need to pop into the office?

We’re open Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm and on Thursday evenings by appointment.
I’m an entrepreneur – can I come to you for help?
